Protein Powder Chocolate Spread
A Nutella alternative with six grams of protein in two tablespoons, against about one in the original. Thick enough to stay put on toast instead of sliding off.
Nutella gets its body from palm oil, which is why it never firms up in the fridge. This gets its body from strained yogurt instead, so it thickens cold. A teaspoon of milk loosens it straight back.
Per serving (2 tbsp)
Ingredients
- 11 oznonfat greek yogurt
- 2 ozchocolate whey protein powder
- 0.71 ozunsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbspsugar-free maple syrup
- a pinchfine sea salt
Steps
- 1
Sift the cocoa and the protein powder together so there are no dry lumps left to find later.
- 2
Stir them into the yogurt a third at a time. Adding it all at once makes it seize.
- 3
Stir in the maple syrup and salt, then let it sit for 10 minutes so the cocoa hydrates and the raw edge goes.
- 4
Keeps five days in the fridge. It thickens overnight, so loosen it with a teaspoon of milk if you want it spreadable again.
